Subang Jaya Medical Centre consultant neurosurgeon Dr Ramesh Narenthiranathan says depending on the severity of the brain injury (and unless the person is brain dead), he can recover. "The human body is not made to be supine. If you leave the patient lying down, he remains like that forever. The biggest mistake is to give up because we think it is the end of the road for the patient. He is unlikely to be the person he was before the injury but the aim is not to be bedridden and be able to perform normal tasks such as bathing or brushing teeth. Sadly here, even among doctors, they think patients with brain injury are waiting to die. That is not true. When doctors give up, patients won't recover. Rehabilitation is an important part of brain injury recovery. For me as long as patients are not brain dead there is hope."

Dr Ramesh berkata rawatan kecederaan otak traumatik bergantung kepada kecederaan dan mungkin memerlukan intervensi seperti ubatan, pembedahan kecemasan atau pembedahan selepas beberapa tahun mengalami impak cedera.
