I suffered from fluid in the ear. I had the problem since last year. I have went to an ENT surgeon in Malacca. I was advised straight for an operation which a hole was done to drain the fluid out from my ear. I felt well after the first operation in Malacca. However, the problem recurred after a few days. I have been suffering for several months. I have given up hope. I moved to Johor recently and came across the review of Dr Teoh which is highly recommended by others. Hence, I give it a try. I have waited a little while before its my turn as his clinic is very busy. He have done scope in the ear and then proceed with the nose scope. He diagnosed me of having middle ear infection with fluid. When he scope my nose, he showed me that I have sinus infection. He recommended me for a course of medication which he said it would resolved my problem in most of the cases. However, due to the severe discomfort and pain in the ear. I requested for another round of drainage of the fluid. However, he explained to me further that the medication might work well. But as I am having the pain and distress he would suggest me to go for the small operation and also to put in a small tube in my ear drum to prevent the recurrence of the fluid. I was given two option which is to have the procedure to be done under local or full anestheia. My wife advised to go under full anaesthesia due to the previous experience which I suffered from severe pain from the previous Malacca doctor in puncturing my ear drum to drain the fluid.
However due to the time constraint, I requested for a local anesthesia. I was waited for almost an hour after he inserted some medication into my ear which I thought is a little bit too long before he performed the procedure on me. I question him why need to be too long as my previous ENT doctor only waited for 5 minutes after he inserted the medication before the doctor punctured my ear drum. The experience does count. True enough as he said, i will be well anesthetised after an hour of waiting. The procedure too only around 5 minutes without any pain. Puncturing the ear drum, suction out the fluid plus insertion of small tube. Very professional and skillful. Highly recommended.
