Hi, as a mom who was also looking for my son's school, I would like to share something here. It's about a school called The Children's House in Jalan Ampang Hilir.

This is one school who sent my child home only after 2 days being in the school. They even gave me a brochure of autistic children simply because my child was an active child and stood out than the rest of the students. I was very ashamed and shocked that they send him back on the 2nd day due to my son's condition who wasnt talking much at the time, active and cried because of course it was his 2nd day and havent adapted to a new environment. they told me to have my son checked and to send a shadow aid to assist him in school on top of teaching my children. My thoughts were, in what situation are you a teacher if a shadow aid will be the one assisting/teaching my child and not the teachers?

This is coming from a principal who she herself couldn't pronounce the word 'children'   she pronounce it as 'chirren'.

There is a way of approaching parents when it comes to talking to them about their children, and The ChildrenHouse were not accepting, not subtle and telling you your son is an autistic child is a slap on the face even if he has issues. Paying RM10,00 for one semester is absurd and I did but this was how they were. Unprofessional.

When I was a teen, I fell in love with the 'red school' (as I called it back then) and told myself I will send my child there when I have one. The day came and I did just so.. But they shattered my dreams when they sent my son home in just 2 days   they don't deserve to be called teachers or someone who nurture children. Their motto is to nurture children each child in their unique ways, so where is this motto when along came a challenging child like mine? My son now goes to speech therapy and improving every day. The Children's House should be ashamed of themselves.

I would not recommend this to anyone. These are my words.

I visited the children's house in Jalan Batai Barat, in Bukit Damansara last Friday. I meet with Jo (administrator) who was very helpfull and showed me and my son around. Lots of genuine Montessori educatational equipment. Teachers were all very nice and the kids all seemed very happy and engrossed in what they were learning. There are two houses there, one for 18mth to 3 1/3 and one for 3 1/2 to 6 yr old. They are next door to each other. 3 terms a year, 5 days a week, 9 to 1pm or 2pm if you choose to do the option Mandarin, technology or art classes on offer. We are looking at placing our son there and renting a house a few streets away.

Ring Jo on 2094 2090. She can give you all the paperwork you need and a montessori booklet. Once again, she was very helpfull.

Where abouts are you living?

I am new to KL (2 weeks).

Hope this helps.

I was impressed, they were very kind to my son and let him sit in on activities whilst I took the 'tour'

Our little man attended Children's House in Damansara Heights (Jalan Batai) since he was 17 months old. We could not speak highly enough of their staff and method of learning Most important of all, he was very happy throughout the 3 years + he spent there. Expect the fee to be around M$3.5k per term in CH.

I can't testify as to the Bangsar branch nor do we know personally of anyone who attended the branch. Another Bangsar alternative is Sunbeam. From what I understand, the downside (if it can be termed as such) of Sunbeam is that it expounds a very, very holistic method. Good for some parents but we know of kids who found it very hard when they eventually entered kindie proper at an international school. Meaning, they appeared to start with zero knowledge when they entered reception or year one.

Re : domestic help. Ummm ... maybe someone else here can help in that respect (?).

Very popular with expats and the upper class of KL. Pricey though and way out of my budget for Connor. They have several schools in the Klang Valley Bangsar, TTDI, Ampang Hilir.
