Menurut Prof Dr KL Goh, ramai tidak menyedari mereka dijangkiti HCV disebabkan tiada sebarang gejala. "Kira-kira 80 peratus pesakit yang dijangkiti HCV tidak tahu mengenai kewujudannya sehingga 30 tahun lamanya. Ini kerana HCV tidak menunjukkan gejala. Akibat tidak sedar, ramai mangsa lewat mendapatkan rawatan.
