I have just delivered my first child 2 months ago under Dr. Ng Soon Pheng. I would like to share my experience throughout this pregnancy. I personally find Dr Ng is professional in his approach and explains clearly after every antenatal visit. I have no medical background, but find that his methods are reasonable and logical. He tries to involve my husband and I into making decision for my childbirth. He makes sure we understand the risks involved in each mode of delivery. We are actually open to whichever method that ensures the best outcome for our newborn. We finally decided for planned Caesarean delivery. Looking back, that is our best decision. Everything went as planned and my baby came out crying his lungs out. He weighed a chubby 3.8kg.

The first day, I was confined in bed and I was encouraged to walk the second day. It was challenging at first, but I was told that active movement will encourage healing. Soon I got used to it and the pain was bearable. By the third day, I was told by Dr Ng that I can go home, after checking my wound. I came back to see him one week later to remove my stiches. He interviewed me to make sure that I am coping with my newborn physically as well as mentally. I came back one month later for a pap smear and told that my uterus had returned to its original size. Looking back, my husband and I had a pleasant experience with our doctor. He is caring and experienced in his work. I would recommend my friends to see him without hesitation. Thank you, Dr Ng.

My daughter is 8 yrs old now, so it was 8 yrs ago that I went to see Dr. Ng at Columbia Asia Puchong. I went there because my colleague recommended him. I did some survey online and see pretty good comments of him too. Unfortunately, I have different experience. On my pregnancy checkup near to the delivery date, Dr. Ng started to "educate" me on the way he handles labour. He said he will use forceps even in normal delivery. Reason being he wanted the process to be as quick as possible. Out of curiosity and as a keen learner as I always be, I asked questions on how it will be done and more whys. Very soon he turned impatient and said that this is "his way" of doing things. He doesn't want to ruin his reputation or take any risk just for anybody. If his patient couldn't accept he won't mind. It is not worth it for him to take the risk at all (hinting me I can change doctor). Of course I can't change doctor now as it was my last 1 or 2 visits before delivery!! So okay, I will not ask him any questions anymore, I better keep quiet I told myself. Doctor is always right and as a patient we just listen and accept will do. Good girl.

Came to the day of delivery. Normal process, contraction, pain, ready for the pushing. I thought it is pretty normal for a human being to make certain "noise" due to the pain. I meant "noise", not "screaming". You know what, Dr. Ng suddenly said in irritation "Do not make such noise, it doesn't help!". Ahh.....good, so I should shut my mouth and make no noise or voice at all during delivery. I should win noble price I guess.

Thank you so much, Dr. Ng for enlighten me. I will never forget you even after 8 yrs. I'm pretty sure your career prosper still. Anyway I hope and truly wish that you are now a better doctor that cure or help people with a sincere heart.
