Very experienced doctor but only allocated 10 mins per patients for consultation according to his plan schedule. You will have issue If you are not good at google. TI was trying to ask about more on the knee surgery procedure and recovery risk etc. This is what he said" i am not here to educate you , I only allocate 10 mins for each patients, it is unfair for next patients if you take more time here"

Good luck

At SJMC

Dr KY Chan is truly godsend. In Dec 2013, I had an accident during badminton and I was his patient for knee ACL reconstruction surgery and he took care of me very well. I recovered great and after 8 months I came back playing badminton better & stronger. Now, July 2020, I tore my right knee meniscus and again I seeked him. Surgery went well and on the next day after surgery, he came late and out of his way just to see me when I needed to change a different type of painkiller. Truly a caring and patient doctor and with a great sense of humour as well. Always very cheerful and kept my spirits up. I’m on the road to recovery and believe will come back stronger in badminton again .....Thank you Dr Chan Kin Yuen.

Here I am sitting at Gleneagles with my sister who has fractured her ankle on a Friday morning. The ortho on call was Dr.Chan. The Doc wrote a wrong report, indicating the fracture as a sprain and with that the Insurance had to take 5 hours of investigation due to a wrong call. He had a cast on my sister's fractuelre late Friday and was done with his treatment. Gone our Friday night. Again, he came on a Saturday like practically late evening after 3pm. We waited since morning. He queried on the Physio and he himself imdiacted they only have 1 physio doc for all 300 patients in the ward ( this isn't really our issue. If they're lacking on a pyshio officer, they ought to employer more. No exxuses on it. We are paying a hfty sum not to wait around till 2 days before we are attened)

Again, Sat gone. Nothing much done. We also been clear, we would like to be discharged on Sunday as we need to get my sister settled in at home and basically I need to be working on Monday.

Well, it's now 12.15pm. No sign of the Dr.Chan. No sogn of the physio officer. I am up and woke up my drowsy sick in painsister at 9am bcoz we've told he'll be in in the morning (both ddoc and pyshio ofc). I have been to the nurse's counter twice. No explanation except it's Sunday.

Dr.Chan should know better if he is unable to make it on Sunday, he should have diacharged us on Saturday. We are *inappropriate words* wasting oir time. This is NOT a Governement Hospital but a very EXPENSIVE Prvate Hoapital. The nurses at the counter, GOSH aren't they a speedy rabbit on their feet. They've been less then helpful. I've been here 2 nights assisting her and from my own rounds walking at the nurses's counter at mornings / nights, it seems they just take their time to anwser the call from the patients. Like 15 mins, imagine if the patient slipped and fall or really has to go to the loo!

Worst hoapotal and doctor and nurses!! Regrets!

Bills are hefty but services is lousy. Been admitted at Pantai Cheras, much better service though. Much hyped hospital but honestly, I can go on about it.

The only thing I have good reviews, the cleaner, the food delivery kak and the kak doing the extra work such as cleaning, checking fever and chamging sheets. Thank you kak's.

Will I ever choose Gleneagles. A big NO!! Even if am on an emergency accident, I'll probably say..bawa saya gi hospital lain! Sekian Terima Kasih.

This doctor will often recommend you to do surgery as a solution instead of offering you other alternatives. He is a very good surgeon and doctor but he needs to listen more to patients' opinions. When you see him,be sure to know what is the best option for your illness, otherwise you will spend a whole lot of money on surgery and you may still experience a lot of pain after surgery. You have to go through a lot of suffering after the surgery and still not healed completely because sometimes surgery may not be the best option.Think first before you opt for surgery. You can still opt for surgery but do your research first.

I've had experience with Dr. Chan Kin Yuen. He was my surgeon when i did my ACL Reconstruction on my knee in SDMC 3 years ago. I'm comfortable with his service and work. Nice doctor and offer good advice. My knee has fully recovered or at least 95% recovered. Reason being, i did not follow up with the physio treatments after my surgery. Dr. Chan is specialize in sports injury.
