Dr. Ahmad Rustam graduated from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with MD degree in 1998 and Masters of Medicine (Paediatrics) in 2007. He has been serving the Malaysian public since 1998 at various government hospitals and Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with over 12 years of training and exposure in the field of General Paediatrics and Paediatric Cardiology. He also had the privilege to do his fellowship training in Paediatric Cardiology at Freeman Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom in year 2010 and 2011. Aside from his vast exposure in the paediatric discipline, he has also participated in various local and international meetings and conferences. In the field of medical education, Dr Ahmad Rustam was involved in clinical training, tutorial and lectures for students of Melaka Manipal Medical College and Penang Medical College, contributing to the development of the younger generation through his teaching posts in both colleges. He also mentors elective medical students, house officers and registrars in the paediatric department at the government hospital. Dr Ahmad Rustam has special interests in transthoracic echocardiography, transoesophageal echocardiography, paediatric cardiac intensive care and interventional procedures for congenital heart disease such as PDA occlusion, ASD device closure and percutaneous transcatheter balloon valvuloplasty / angioplasty.
