Taman Sari means beautiful park, as it says in the history. It is about a ten minutes walk from the Sultan Palace southwestward. This park was built by Sultan Hamengku Buwono I in 1757. He created a new style that was a mixture of Javanese and Portuguese architecture. Therefore Taman Sari Water Palace is famous as a bathing place where Javanese Royal families, prince and princesses enjoy special and unique beauty treatments, which has the philosophy balancing jiwa, raga, sukma or body, mind and spirit.

Inspired by the real 'Taman sari', PT.Mustika Ratu created Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa wich opened in Sheraton Mustika Hotel Yogyakar, Indonesia, in 1997. then Taman Sari Royal Heritage Soa Jakarta, Indonesia, in September 2000. Right from the beginning, the staff were friendly and welcoming. The decor and smells create a very relaxing atmosphere. I got a Javanese massage with a body scrub and my girlfriend got a facial with a manicure and pedicure. Extremely professional, high quality. We both felt extremely relaxed after our trip to the spa!
