We stayed here for two nights. After reading good reviews we were excited. The staff however were not great. They seemed not to understand English very well and were not very friendly. When asking where our room was they just pointed and said the over there. No information given. We met the owners later that night and they we very lovely and welcoming. The other staff however need some encouragement. Also there was a large group of guests with many children who ran around wildly for many hours. This was fine with me but other guests were less than impressed.
The rooms are basic but need a deep clean. Ours was full of spider webs and water leak stains. The places needs a good clean and fresh lick of paint. The shower also needs a good scrub lots of mildew in between the tiles.
We had a car so we found the place quite easily, there were many signs at all the turns. Ranau it's self is a bit of a one horse town. Not much to see it do. A KFC and a few local restaurants. We used this as a base to visit the mountain, hot springs and the POW camps.

We were welcomed by the owner of Slagon Homestay, Dr Lungkiam. She was so friendly as well as all of her staff. Our stay was really wonderful, we managed to get calm and the homie feeling there.
