Putra Medical Centre started as a 24-hours 20 bedded maternity and Polyclinic operating from a double storey bungalow house at Jalan Lumpur in Alor Star under the name of Pusat Lim & Yu.

The centre was the brainchild of Dr Lim Kim Huat and Dr Yu Ching Hsiu.


Putra Medical Centre was registered on 19th April 1991 primarily to participate in the growth of private hospitals in Malaysia and commenced operation on  2nd July 1995. The centre started with only a handful ofSpecialists and 3 Medical Officers.  Today the centre has a team of 19 Residents Consultants, 9 visiting Consultants and 5 Medical Officers and a host of locums to support the Polyclinic. Putra Medical Centre has now

grown into a 143 bedded, acute care & general medical/surgical hospital.

Our mission is to provide high quality, cost effective standard healthcare which will meet the needs and expectations of our patients through comprehensive primary, secondary and selected tertiary care services on an inpatient, outpatient, and referral basis.


Putra Medical Centre strives to ensure that all of our patients are treated with respect and dignity and their needs and complaints are attended efficientlyand promptly. Putra Medical Centre is now in its 17th year of operation.It has a total workforce of 360 employees, ranging from senior management down to its auxiliary staffs. The centre is 100% owned by Unique Luxury Sdn Bhd (Company No. 215791-U). Putra Medical Centre is continuously upgrading its facilities to provide better, affordable and quality medical healthcare to the community.

1. Lack of clear communication & orientation among nurse - Nobody came to remove the IV when my discharged process completed. I've to go and ask them should I go home with the IV, then only they remove. 2. Lack of professionalism & feeling unengaged in their care. Nurse didn't listen & took action on patient's feedback. Nurses were informed twice that the drip slow & just stopped but no action taken. It took almost 10 hours to drip in 150ml, didn't finish the whole bottle of 500ml. 3. Inconsistent daily meal delivery service time & food served cold. 4. Rusty old hospital bed & drawer, dissatisfying cleanliness rate. Do not meet the standards expected of a private hospital.

One of the worst service! Apart from difficulty of getting a parking space, their service is abysmal. Brought my kid for a check up, said result should be out in 3 days, and will notify once ready. A week passed, no call from them. Called up to check, the line being passed around ending up saying doctor not available. Call back again a week after, doctor on AL, but manage to find the patient name, and will pass the info to the nurse for follow up (calling me back to explain the result). Still waiting...
