Background
Claim business The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has directed Acclaim Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd (AIB), Leadenhall Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd (LIB), and Magnetron Insurance & Financial Services Pte Ltd (MIFS) to cease the provision of financial advisory services for new transactions by 23 December 2008. With effect from 22 January 2009, MAS will withdraw AIB, LIB and MIFS' exemption under section 23(1) of the Financial Advisers Act ("FAA") from the requirement to hold a financial advisers licence. This means that they will no longer be permitted to provide financial advisory services in Singapore.
